UNDERGROUND Wine Club
“If you want some to put away, get it now before it goes away.”
For our current Wine Club release, we are showcasing a trio of new products and a highlight from an idyllic vintage:
Our 2020 Riesling, among the first wines we bottled with a Stelvin (screw cap) closure. Very steely and nervous on the nose, it has shy aromas of apricot, honey, lime, and a petrol note;
Our 2018 Pinot Noir Rosie's Garden Vineyards makes its single vineyard debut. It shows very delicate tannin with more earthy cranberry notes when compared to the 2018 Pinot from our Quast Vineyard;
Our 2018 Appassimento is a rare Merlot driven blend including Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon. We didn't make an Appassimento in 2019 or 2020 so now is the time to add it to your cellar!;
And finally: for September’s Underground exclusive we are proud to offer a mature and balanced Cabernet Franc from the great Niagara Escarpment year of 2010.
For our artistic accented bottle this quarter, Sean Manning, our owner and resident artist, has chosen an understated line drawing to commemorate twenty years since the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
Sean, along with his wife, Laura Jean Manning, have been active with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City for many years as part of their numerous charitable efforts.
Sean has an eight-foot-tall pair of ceramic “Towers of Unity” on permanent exhibit at Ground Zero in New York City, and his “One Family” American Flag design is used on many collectables sold in the 9/11 Museum, contributing to its continued operation.
