First Friday Wine Class: Chardonnay

Chardonnay: versatile, ubiquitous, occasionally over-oaked, and somehow still the most misunderstood grape in the room. From the steely, chalky precision of Chablis and the aristocratic charms of White Burgundy, to the bubbles of Champagne and the sunshine-and-oak swagger of California, Chardonnay has more personalities than a wine bar has opinions. We’ll dig into the grape, its terroir, its many stylistic incarnations, and the eternal battle between “Anything But Chardonnay” and “Pass the butter bomb.” Come explore the grape that can be flinty, creamy, funky, fancy, fabulous—and occasionally guilty of wearing too much oak.
