Fundraiser for the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center

FREE EVENT! Stop by the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute (28 Old Falls St., Niagara Falls) Sunday, December 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for "Sweet Holiday Sunday," a fundraiser in benefit of the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center.

Team Freedom members Kurt & Lori will be on hand pouring samples and selling bottles to benefit the Heritage Center with a percentage of sales being donated to them. FRW owner Sean Manning is also donating a large American Flag from his new Freedom series to be hung at the center, and a smaller 16"X20" Freedom American Flag to raise money at the fundraiser.

FRW has also donated two gift certificates for group tastings and two bottles of wine for their raffle, so good luck to the winners!

We recently erected the Freedom Art Walk to commemorate and educate people about the Underground Railroad. There are eighteen works of ceramic art that were created by artist and winery owner, Richard ‘Sean’ Manning positioned on a meandering trail through the vineyards and apple orchard of FRW and up to the base of the Niagara Escarpment.

It is said that enslaved African-Americans ran under cover of night from the Erie Canal through the Escarpment forest, which is at the base of FRW, to the Niagara River, crossing to freedom in Canada ~ hence our name…Freedom Run Winery.
