Cookies & Wine Pairing @ Freedom Run Winery

We are delighted to announce that we are now offering a Cookies & Wine Flight of Four at Freedom Run Winery.  Team Freedom welcomes Tina Macey and Tara Rowan - co-owners/bakers of Buffalo Delights ~ AKA 'The Cookie Masters' to our roundup of pairing partners!

After introducing a highly successful Chocolate & Wine pairing with our 3 sweeter wines, winemaker Ryan Sidoti, Vineyard Manager, Sommelier Kurt Guba, and Retail Manager Mark Gabioud, collaborated with Buffalo Delights to perfectly pair 4 of Freedom Run Winery's drier wines, with delicious 'mated' artisanal cookies.

There will also be bags of cookies available in the Tasting Room for you to take home with your favorite bottle(s) of wine to share with your family and friends!

The First Tasting

Unoaked Chardonnay ~ 2021

This totally "naked" style Chardonnay was fermented and stored in stainless steel to preserve its melon and citrus aromas leaving a crisp acidity and clean mineral finish. 

Pairs well with:

Buffalo Delights Basil/Lime/Pistachio Cookies (Round)

The Second Tasting

Oaked Chardonnay ~ 2021

This complex aromatic white wine reveals subtle aromas of tangerine and peach. Its soft and silky texture is reminiscent of créme fraîche.

Pairs well with:

Buffalo Delights Salted Rosemary Butter Cookie (Rectangle)

The Third Tasting

Riesling ~ 2021

Kicking off with fresh, herbal aromas of fennel frond and licorice root, before diving into lime peel and crushed rock on the nose. It presents as slightly off dry on the palate, showing flavors of lime candy and peach gummies, yet it's all perked up by bright acidity and a lingering green apple crispness.

Pairs well with:

Buffalo Delights Lemon/Sage Shortbread Cookie (Octagonal)

The Fourth Tasting

Meritage Appasimento ~ 2018

This complex wine reveals rich aromas of black currant, dark cherry, vanilla and spice. Its firm tannins, medium body and overall balance makes this an excellent bottle to enjoy today or age in your wine cellar.

Spiced Pfeffernusse Cookie (Ball)
